On Bicentennial Day, July 4, 1976, there was a civil ceremony performed by a Justice of the Peace in the comfortable atmosphere of Mr. Goldblatt’s delicatessen. Married were Gilbert Hallenbeck to Natalia Feinbergen. The ceremony was notable for the dancing of an elderly couple at the back of the delicatessen who were soon identified by the other attendees as the father and mother of the bride. Abe closed out the ceremony by giving an enthusiastic rendition of “Hava Nagila”. Then they all broke for corned beef sandwiches and wedding cake.
